Chess Buddies is a chess app for children and families. It has no accounts and no chat. Everything you do in the app (games, puzzle rating, trophies, settings) is stored only on your device. The only thing that can leave the phone is a weekly progress picture, and only when a grown-up chooses to share it.

Your games, puzzle progress, lesson stars, trophies, settings and the player names you type are saved only on your phone. We never receive or upload this information. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
Parents can add up to six child profiles (a first name or nickname and an emoji avatar). Each child's progress and daily play time are kept separately, only on the phone. A parent can make a weekly progress picture (the child's name, games, puzzles, stars and trophies) and share it with an app of their choice, such as WhatsApp. This only happens after the grown-up check and when the parent taps "Share"; we never receive the picture. A parent can delete a child's profile and all its data in the parent area.
If a parent turns on the daily reminder, the app shows a local notification on the phone. No notification service or server is involved. The voice coach uses the phone's own text-to-speech engine; the app does not record or listen to anything.
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, so we can keep the app free. Because children use the app, every ad request is marked as child-directed and limited to content rated G (general audiences). This means:
Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area and the UK), the app asks for consent before ads are shown, and the choice can be changed later in Settings.
"Chess Buddies Pro" is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Google Play. It removes ads and unlocks all features. We do not receive your payment details. A grown-up check is shown before the purchase screen opens.
The app is designed to be used by children together with their families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has no sign-up, no social features and no links to outside websites except this policy and Google's own purchase and consent screens.
Because your data stays on your device, you can delete it at any time with Settings → "Reset all progress", or by uninstalling the app.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
